They are looking out for homeowners, right?

I wasn’t going to touch this news bit, but the spin being thrown was just too much to ignore.

Rep. Laura Richardson claimed Friday that her Sacramento home was sold into foreclosure without her knowledge and contrary to an agreement with her lender. She said that she is like any other American suffering in the mortgage crisis and wants to testify to Congress about her experience as lawmakers craft a foreclosure-prevention bill.” from the L.A. Times

We have to assume Richardson has at least some concept of laws and finance, otherwise we, as a country, are really in for a world of hurt.  Elected representatives are there to represent people from their district, if they operate in a world different than their constituents, then I really think they should step down and say “I don’t operate under the same rules as the little people, so I’m not going to stay in office and pretend I care.”

If the foreclosure was “improper”, or a “wrongful foreclosure”, then Richardson should fight the foreclosure action and re-establish ownership of the property.  It can be done if the foreclosure was improper, but I don’t think Richardson wants the property or the payments.  Well, Laura, what are you going to do?
