Help, please! Foreclosure questions

Say, it is mortgaged at 80,000 and would only sell for around 62,000 and you have been in it for 12 yrs. This is a new mortgage at a variable rate for 30yrs! Trying to help my son out. Can wages be garnished in Alabama for mortgage payments? Thanks for ANY help.Mrs. B
