: Hi, I am 5 months behind, but back up on my feet and able to pay half of this lates up front as a downpayment, and increase my payments 25% to upwards of 50% if I had to.
: I see below that their is a number for Ameriquest's Loss Mitigation. I just got a post card from Ameriquest with a "Home Retention Group" phone number and contact name.
: I have not spoken with anyone from Ameriquest whatsoever since I was layed off and went late in July. I'm ready to attack this one this week. I also just received a foreclosure letter from an attorney representing Ameriquest and need to respond to them within 30 days per their request.
: What should my course of action be? Contact Loss Mitigation or Home Retention or both? Do I contact this attorney?
: I have no clue where to start, but I will have no problem proving to whoever that I can keep and afford this house.
: Thanks for your help in advance.

Sharynne,
It sounds to me like the Home Retention Group might actually be loss mitigation. I'd call them and try to work something out. Your plan seems realistic and could be acceptable to the lender although they'll want additional paperwork along with any proposal. Congratulations on taking pro-active steps to save your home.
