renting home in Texas, owners filing bankrupcy..

we are renting a home from a couple who moved out of state. We have no formal lease agreement. They moved out and we moved in the same weekend and have sent them rent each month, which basically covered the house note. Was informed last week they were filing for bankrupcy and "letting the house go". I need to know approximatley how long this bankrupcy/foreclosure will take. We initially panicked and started looking right away but are finding comperable homes few and far between. i have been told anywhere from 1 to 6 months. also, any links to Texas Forclosure Laws would be helpful. Thanks!
