: we are renting a home from a couple who moved out of state. We have no formal lease agreement. They moved out and we moved in the same weekend and have sent them rent each month, which basically covered the house note. Was informed last week they were filing for bankrupcy and "letting the house go". I need to know approximatley how long this bankrupcy/foreclosure will take. We initially panicked and started looking right away but are finding comperable homes few and far between. i have been told anywhere from 1 to 6 months. also, any links to Texas Forclosure Laws would be helpful. Thanks!
: If you like the home, you may be in luck. You could try and contact the mortgage company, which you can locate throught your local tax office. You can attempt to purchase the house through - Loss Mitigation or what is called a short sale. Meaning that you would have to bid on the property but would stand to pay much less the market value.
