: How do I research tax liens on a property? Also, is it the auction winner's responsibility to evict? Thanks in advance.

:Neil You need to do research before you buy a tax lien property. The lien is good for a year and the person has a right to redeem within that year so you do nothing with the lien for a year. For research go to the State Controllers office at www.sco.ca.gov. Click on Tax Information. Then click on Property Tax Collection and Procedures. There you will find Upcoming Public Auctions for various counties. The Counties post there upcoming auctions thru out the year. Also read and understand the tax sale procedures for the state. You do not own the property, can not evict the person and understand they have a year to redeem the property. The competition is fierce and do not buy sight unseen.
