All in all Homecomings had been a decent lender to work with for the first few months. The moment you fall behind then you're at the mercy of the money monster. This is how and where they screw people over. To make a long story short, a 6000 back balance became $17,000 in the matter of a few weeks due to "legal fees" according to Homecomings. I was lucky enough to prevent foreclosure sale of my home by shelling out $6000 and then paying additional payments atop the normal morgage payment each month. I tried to refinance about 1.5 yrs after this because $2500/mo in a 152K morgage balance is just robbery! Because the back balance (about $6600) is still outstanding, there is a lien against the deed and they will not release it. I was ready to hand these people a 159K check and they would not take it unless I first gave them $6600. The new finance company was unable to get anywhere with Homecomings either so I am still stuck making $2500 payments and lining the pockets of those crooks. I would like to explore the legality of these actions by Homecomings. I am located in NY and I am aware of some pending class action lawsuits against them. Any info would be GREATLY appreciated.
