: HELP HELP HELP!!!
: I own a three bedroom home in chicago, illinois. I am currently behind 3 monthly payments. I filed a chapt. 13 plan last year and was responsible for making mortgage payments. Mortgage Co. has sent notice of intent to dismiiss the chapt.13 and I tried to call them and see what I could do to save my home and they informed me that I would have to wait until the chap. 13 is dismissed and then I need to talk to loss mitigation dept. However I'm still worried I don't know what to do.
Candice, phone the loss mitigation department at your lending/servicing institution and talk with them about your concerns. Let them know that you are interested in retaining the property; that you anticipate Chapter 13 dismissal shortly; and that you are anxious to begin compiling the documents that they will need to begin processing your request for workout assistance. Ask the representative you speak with to mail a loss mitigation packet to you so that you can get a jump on completing it. Although this will give you a head start on tackling the work ahead, keep in mind that most lenders will not interface with you unless and until the bankruptcy action has been resolved.
