Your mother-in-law and sister-in-law do have some options, however, they will need to take action quickly. As for your specific question on your mother-in-laws home, unless she pledged it as collateral on the other loan, I think it is safe even if the lender decides to seek a deficiency judgment against her after the sale and after the redemption period has expired.
