I've been looking at some foreclosure properties for the past month, but have had little luck. The last two were actually sold before the auction. My question is twofold; would it be insulting to the owner if I knocked on his door and asked if he'd be willing to sell his home to me? And what kind of offer can I make so that we can both be happy? For example, let's say a foreclosure is listed at $160,000, and the market value is $300,000. A title search indicate's the owner owes $3,800 on back taxes. What kind of offer should I make? Thanks !!
