Lien on property

Have balloon payments on 3 properties (same lender) coming due in 3 months. Property is held 50-50 with a partner. Started Re-fi Process and it was halted when title search indicated a lien had been placed on properties by my partners ex-GF. Lender says no way re-fi can proceed until lien is cleared..? The three properties that need to be re-financed are equity rich and have a value of about 5-1 over the lien. partner can not pay lien as he is basically broke. I can probably pay it by taking out a personal loan or line of credit on my personal residence but should I??? I'm just a little fish in a barrel with a disabled wife to look after.. Any suggestions.. ??? Thanks
