Homeowner's passed away

My grandmother passed away 5 months ago and the mortgage group is trying to foreclose on the property she left me in which I am living in. The mortgage company advised my mother in March that they were trying to settle it and we never heard another word from them until the foreclosure letters came. Is there anything I can do to stop this action?
