Our yearly lease runs out this month. Then it is written up as a month to month lease. The problem is that she(the landlord) is always here on the 1st of each month to collect rent, which we have always payed on time. But this month, it is the 10th and she has not showed up to collect it. When we have tried to contact her, the post office told us that she moved and did not give a fowarding address. When we called her number that she gave us in the beginning of our lease, it was disconnected an no futher info was given. We know that she is in finicial trouble and has bounced checks in our area. But I am pretty sure that she has to provide us with info on how to contact her. Since we cant contact her. What do we do?
She currently has this property up for sale with a leading real estate company. When i called the realator, he said he was in the same situation as we were. He could not find or contact her either. He told me that the she hasnt paid the mortage and may loose the house to the bank. What do we do? and how much time would the bank give us? I dont trust her(the landlord) to tell us what is going on. Would the bank even know that were here? Help please. I have 3 kids and it is very hard to find a rental in our area. The new school year will be soon approaching and we dont want to move our kids out of the school district. Should we start to pack and look for a house or should we sit tight and talk to the bank about buying the house. The house has been on the market for 6 monthes and not one call has been made about buying the house. It is a fixer upper and she wants way to much money for most people. My husband is a carpernter and we would love to fix this house up. Are banks willing to work with renters who want to buy.
