I guess the big question is just who sold it back in July 2008. Was this the Sheriff Sale and the bank got it back? You say your Realtor cancelled the listing? A reason has to be given.

Also there would be a question of just how much was owed to the lender. You say $175,000 but remember that missed payments would continue to be added in as well as attorney foreclosure costs, late fees, etc. $183,000 could easily be what you owed as of time of sale. We just don't know the timetable or the parties involved on this one.

You really need to find out the particulars on this one. Right now all we can do is guess.
