Adding to the other answer, you can live in the property right up to the ending date of redemption. Normally this date will be exactly 6 months after the Sheriff Sale. You can also call the Sheriff Office to get the date. It is public record.
I wouldn't go over on the timeframe either. But if you did you could probably squeeze another couple of weeks. But it's no fun to be evicted.
