Deficiency Judgment in California?

Posted by Brandon on February 22, 2007 at 09:26:50:

Hello all, I'm taking the advice of a friend and comming on here to get some real life information on my current situation. I have been late on my mortgages since December 1st 2006. It is now Feb 2007, and nothing has changed. I have come to terms with the fact that I had bought outside of my means. I am on the verge of getting laid off as well...I work in the Mortgage business, and the recent bubble burst in CA has hit our business pretty hard. I have since received a couple letters from the lenders specifying how much I am delinquent and what to do to clear it up. In some of the letter, they talk about possibly issuing a deficiency judgment. Ive heard of this a couple times, however Ive been told that I do not have to worry about it in California. Need to know if this is true or not. Also, I have not paid my December or April property taxes and I do not have the funds to do so. Will there be any punishment for this when the house goes to foreclosure? Any help you all can give me would be really appreciated! Thank you!
