You would think that in this enlightened age of foreclosures that a lender would realize that you shortly can be taking care of things. But with the many departments at the various banks things can get lost or fouled up on a regular basis.

Not an attorney (and I would contact one), but there would be a temptation to settle with other creditors for less. As you said, a lot of the damage is already done.

Personally, if I had the money I would still be honorable with my creditors. Ethics over money, at least for me.

It's a personal decision.

No pressure, eh? :>)
