Most lenders have a hardship clause built into their contracts usually hidden in legalese terms. The thing to remember here is most banks our non-profit entities that don't pay any taxes and that's one of the reason why their passing it on to you through filing a notice of deficiency. Will the issuance and receipt of this notice cause you financial hardship, mental duress, undo stress, or physical illness? If so, please contact me at your earliest convenience.
All is not hopeless and there is something you can do. Keep the faith! Things will get better...
