thanks for the info. blind bidding doesn't sound appealing to me. i have never bid on a foreclosure, but my experience with fixer uppers tells me i need to be very careful about what i buy. more than once i have seen a pretty decent house, old, but with a nice paint job and trim, only to find out it has termite or water damage. this sounds too hit or miss... i would imagine most of these houses are in bad shape. i would like to hear a story or two of a bad buy from you guys. i'm sure theres plenty. thanks again, mike. also, why wouldn't you shop around for a good deal on a handyman special if this is such a risk? thanks.
