Getting Citifinancial to deal?

I am 4 months behind in payment to Citifinancial due to a divorce and subsequent car accident. When I was 3 months behind, Citi began refusing to accept my monthly payments, saying they would only take payment in full. I know I should have saved the monies, but I couldn't due to unexpected expenses for the family.

I have been in contact with Citifinancial several times. I would like to set up a loan modification or loan repayment plan. I can afford my monthly payment +25%...but they won't deal. It's up to over $10k with legal fees already, and I simply don't have access to that kind of money.

It's not that I don't want to pay them, and to be honest I think they're being unreasonable by not offering any repayment plan at all...but I also know it's not their responsibility to be warm and cuddly. Does anyone have any experience getting a repayment plan out of Citifinancial? I'm in CA.
