possible forclosure

bought a house in new york with the financing through the guy i bought it from. It was a proper sale(not a land contract). we had the taxes written into the contract and we paid the taxes along with the house payment right on time for about 9 or 10 months and then we started getting letters from the city and county saying the taxes were overdue. turns out the gentleman we bought the house wasnt paying em and i ended up paying the back taxes and there was another 4 or 5 thousand against the house on a repayment plan he had with the city for previous taxes and we ended up paying those also. now that gentleman has filed bankruptcy and i was contacted by the trustee on his bankruptcy case and the trustee is trying to call in the original amount of the price for the house like we never paid a single penny on the house. we have an appointment for a lawyer but im not sure how long i have before the trustee will file a forclosure case and after that how long will i have to remove my belongings from the house? Just seeking a little advise.
