Sheriff Sale- Over- What happens now?

There was a sheriff sale on property on 11/7. I have not received any information on the outcome of the sale. Should I be contacting the lawyers or my mortgage company? I had a second mortgage on the house and they said they were going to start the foreclosure process. How can a 2nd lien holder go through foreclosure when the 1st already had a sheriff sale? I am confused! Help
