Depending on what city and state you are in, renting the home may be an option for you.
If you have an ARM which has reset above what rents in your area go for, contact your lender(s) and ask for a short sale package, also speak with a rep in the Loss Mitigation Department regarding what options they offer to borrowers in your situation.

Have you listed your home for sale with a Realtor or are you trying to sell FSBO?

Open a dialogue with your lender NOW and keep them advised of your situation.
