timeline

Can anyone give me an idea of a timeline. My house is posted for sale for February 14th. I spoke with the lender and we are still waiting on the loan modification which may or may not be completed by that date. I was told by the lender that a few days before the sale date they will request a delay. Does this sound credible? I'm very nervous about this and don't want be surprised. Also, after the sale date, how much time do you have before you actually have to move out? Thank you for any advice.
