That said...foreclosure significantly impacts a credit score although actual impact varies depending upon a number of case specific variables.

In CA you will likely face the culmination of the foreclosure process (sale) within 4-6 months from initial filing.

Foreclosure will remain on your credit profile for 7 years. I suspect that as a stimulus for economy in the years to come, new and improved ways will be established for qualifying the thousands of persons experiencing foreclosure with mortgage loans.
