foreclosure advice

I got the foreclosure letter in the mail about a month or so ago, in the meantime they have tried to get me to go into this homesaver advange program or something like that where I continue to pay myh original mortgage payment plus an additional payment to pay back what I'm past due on. I've called several times to the mortgage company to tell them that I just can't pay what they want anymore for certain reasons. I've left messages and no one has called me back about my situation. I did call them about everyday for a week and still no one has bothered to call me. I feel like they aren't willing to help or something and I just so frustrated with the whole ordeal now. People are telling me that I should just walk away and move on, if anybody has any advice on what I should do next, I feel like I've tried and I'm not getting help from the lender. I would greatly appreicate the advice.
