The home was legally foreclosed and sold at Sheriff's Sale. It's hard to unring the bell. Preforecosure short sales are usually pursued to avoid Sheriff's Sale.

In this case, the event has already occured, the debt has been discharged, and you have no financial liability.

I'm not sure what benefit a short sale would be for you.... other than satisfaction.
