I agree with 95% of what Steele has said. I would only add that a notice pinned on the door may mean that a sheriff's sale may be happening very soon.Some lenders are doing this to get owner's attention too. I would definitely call the owner and ask when his last payment was made and if he has tried to work out new terms for the loan. I don't know that he would tell you, but it doesn't hurt to ask. Then I would call the housing agency in your city or town and ask what your rights are. In California, a foreclosure may go through and the tenant will be give notice to vacate by the new owner. They are treated and have the same rights as any tenant in California. Good luck!
