home forclosure

We were renting our house, and we had some problems with the tenant, ending in a nasty fight to kick him out. We did, now we are trying to sell it, while a few months behind on mortgage payment. So we received a letter of foreclosure to happen in 3 weeks. Am trying to do a WORKOUT agreement with the mortgage company. Should i tell them the house is for sale? How should i get them to agree to hold off few months while we seel the house?
