Help!!!

Hey, my husband and I have decided to divorce and don't know what to do with our home we bought two years ago.
The mortgage payments are well over 2,000 a month and neither one of us can make this on our own. We have applied for a modification and have heard nothing back so far. We have discussed letting the house just go into foreclosure and one of staying until the process begins/ends. What do we do in times like these???? What exactly is a modification and how would this help if one of us decided to keep the house? Can someone please help me with this??!!! Thanx!!!
