Please explain why you believe it would not be a "benefit the homeowner" to extend the foreclosure action for five to ten years, realizing that they get to live in the home rent free thruout that time?

You say, "Others, who perhaps don't have significant other resources". Are you implying that those that have "significant other resources" may choose not to prolong the time? It would seem to me that if a borrower had "significant other resources", would not be in foreclousre.

What do you mean by "Wanting to stay in a home is far different than being financially capable of affording a home."?
