If a family can't afford a $2,000/month mortgage payment(causing foreclosure process), you certainly can't account for that same amount to go into monthly savings.
That's really crappy accounting and falls into the "sales hype" category IMHO.
Why don't you take that out of your calculation, and provide a more realistic cost/benefit analysis?
