Not really. As I understand it this is statutory. To not do so when it is required is to break the law. And who wants to anger the IRS!
Now, as I also understand it tax ramifications may be lessened if one is suffering from financial hardship. But this is not my area of expertise.
Can someone else give some wisdom on this?
