What kind of lawyer is this? I have never heard of a lawyer telling a homeowner to file bankruptcy after a foreclosure. For what? You've already lost your home. Just because he's a lawyer doesn't mean he has your best interest. Why so he can take your money and go off and vacation in Hawaii somewhere.
