1099 and judgement

Hi, I have a foreclosure on my credit due to things beyond my control, My lawyer had us sign agreement for deficiency judgement, she said it would be easier(not very good lawyer i fear) but I received a 1099 also for income on property can they do both??.. I live in indiana. If they are not allowed to do this what do I do next,,, Thank you Rick
