House going to auction: Is it too late to get involved?

So, the house has been foreclosed and an auction date set. Looks like the
house is still occupied. It's about 20 days away, and in Los Angels, CA.

I know there are redemption laws that allow the borrow to still climb out
from under this. Is it too late for me to make a pitch to help out? If not,
how would you approach this one?
