3 months past due in GA and relocated across country

My house is located near Savannah GA and has been up for sale since November 2007. I am on my second realtor. We live in Seattle so it is difficult to do anything but wait. Things are not working out. My rent is way more than my mortgage which is high. My house was new and only lived in a year and a half.
I am 3 months behind in my payments and owe back taxes. My lenders just pressure me to pay what I can and will not modify the loan, probably because they know it is vacant and up for sale.
I need some options. It is getting difficult face another payday knowing I am broke the next day. Also it is disheartening to know if I ever get out of this I see no positive future of homeownership as a 48 year old.
Any help would be helpful. Thanks.
