What ever is left will come back as a collection, it will be up to the agency who is collecting the debt to go after you and your assets.
I would put the property you have into a Trust and short sale the home in CA. If you can show a hardship like you being out of work since Jan. them you should be OK. They will ask you to do a financial to make sure you are not able to make the payments on the property in CA. They will not do it if they now you own a home in TX and have savings.
