I'm no expert on Iowa foreclosure, but did you get a notice in early December stating you have 30 days to reinstate, or demand judicial foreclosure?
Your mortgage documents may contain provisions for reinstatement after foreclosure has been initiated, but it's not required by state statute. I attached a link to the Iowa statute regarding non-agricultural foreclosure noticing.
Depending on how much equity is established in the property, it might be prudent to consult an attorney for state specific legal advice. Legal Aid might be able to help at low/no cost. iowalegalaid.org
