As Eric says, as long as you own it you can rent it. However, most mortgage paperwork allows the lender to claim rents after they own it.
Also renting it after auction puts those folks under the eviction notice gun. No fun getting a visit from the Sheriff.
What kind of timeframe are you talking about?
