Certainly the situation is one for concern. Still, as a tenant you have specific rights under the law.
Since the property has not yet faced auction, it would appear you are still legally bound by your rental contract.
In most states, holdover tenants are given a vacate notice after the sale severing the legal owner's rights to the property; typically 30 days.
Depending on the state in which the property is located you might have even more time subject to rights of redemption.
At present, based on the information you've provided, you are not trespassing. The lender rep was in error.
