While I understand your passion, it is highly one sided. To suggest that this is the fault of the lender that is left holding the bag is equally unfair.
Consumers and lenders are equally at fault. While some scam artists exist in BOTH camps the majority of situations are less damning.
Keep in mind it is not only this judge but the California Attorney General's office that is looking into this. The article is merely reporting that there can be consequences for certain actions. Someone who is honestly trying to work with their lenders has little to fear of these actions.
IMHO.
Oh, the FBI is actively going after the scam artists. The judical branch does the trials. The police do the arresting :>)
