Buying a home after foreclosue

I am getting married in 6 months to my fiance that just foreclosed on his home. He lives in Oregon where I will be moving in 12 months (I live in Texas). I have bad credit (divorce) but no repos or bankruptcies. I have never owned a home. Which of us has a better chance of owning a home in the next 2 years? How long before he can qualify for a home again after foreclosure? What do banks look at as far as debt when considering a loan? How far will they look back on your credit? I guess I'm trying to figure out the minimum amount of cleanup. Thanks.
