Totally agree. Not new and frankly having an attorney do this is no magical cure. Not picking on my attorney brethern but having a law degree does not give one super powers. Any number of specialists exist out there that assist with loan modifications. Many at low or no cost through state and local programs.

And as suggested there is no reason why the borrower should not be attempting this him/herself. Most of the lenders have such programs and are very willing to work with you. Don't be afraid to take the first step.

I have to say, I was really taken aback by someone claiming a "new program" when this has been around for years and years. And I can imagine what attorneys would charge for something that isn't all that tough to do.

Oh well, someone is always trying to slip a sales pitch into this consumer forum. At least it wasn't blatant.
