Realtor commission question
Posted by Anthony on September 23, 2008 at 18:53:05:
To all the experts out there I need all honest opinions. I may have a buyer for my house.. Huh..yea an actual sale not foreclosure. I am excited about the possible purchase but here is the question.
The interested buyer found my house by driving by and contacted me for a viewing. Today they viewed the home and seemed very interested. The buyer stated they needed to talk to their spouse whom would contact their realtor about the possible purchase.
How do I handle the commission or fee? Being the seller am I paying for it, if so do I have the ability to negotiate it considering the situation that the interested buyer contacted me...I don't want to seem rude or "mean" or however to word it because I work just as any realtor works and know that times are not great in the market but considering the market I may be lucky to break even with the sale of the house. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Anthony
