CA Foreclosure process

I am trying to understand the foreclosure process in CA. I understand that CA is primarily a non-judicial state. If the foreclosure process in on-going and you do not leave the home/hand over the property, can the lender sue to evict you? Like an Unlawful Detainer? If you do leave/hand over the property does that mean they can not file a lawsuit against you and get a judgment?
Thanks in advance for any clarification you can provide
