Appraisers?

My husband hasnt paid the house note in who knows how long, he does not tell me anything and I cant find anything out since the house is not in my name nor is the mortgage. An appraiser showed up sat and stated she was here to appraise the house and my husband started telling her he was trying to work with the bank, and she told him, she was not here for that, she does not appraise for those purposes. What was she doing here? and what is the next step they will take? I cant find any info on what the next steps are that the bank will take and Iam scared not knowing if the next knock at the door will be the one telling me to get out. If anyone has any help or advice I would appreicate it. Thank you.
