Ex trying to buy back home HE put into foreclosure

My ex has the house loan which he has let go into foreclosure. I have second on house which is paid up to date. Ex thinks he can buy the house back at auction - is this legal or even possible?
I have gone to court with a motion to force him to put house on market - ANY money I can recoup on the second would help-
Advise please? THANKS
