Statute of limitations on foreclosure

A client of mine owns several properties in California and the Trustor is behind in their payments. The deeds of trust are about 17 years old. How long is the statute of limitations and will he be time barred at any time, or can he simply patiently hold onto our deeds of trust and wait forever? Please email me at
