Hi K. hubbard. We are about to walk this walk in a few months. Our home is worth waaaay less than we owe the bank on it. My father died a few months ago and my mom really needs my husbands and my help. We currently live in Michigan and she lives in ohio. She has a very large walk out basement and is willing to fix it up from top to bottom so that way we can live there for however long we need till we can save up money for a new home one day. We cant sell our home. Starting january we will stop making payments and I am scared to death. We canot afford our home anymore. We are drowning is bills. My income has been cut in half. WE dont qualify for a loan mod because we just refied last june (we had an FHA loan and FHA worked with us to cut our mortgatge by $200 which we thought would help but it isnt' doing much) I know the bank is going to want to work with us, but as you we simply want to just walk away as well. The neighborhood we live in is getting worse and we have to small boys. The school system isn't all that great either. I love our home and it makes me sick to think about this but I cant keep sinking like this anymore. I'd like to be able to buy food without having axiety about how we are going to pay for it.
